Spencer Hatcher Turns Up the Heat With "Hot Weather, Cold Beer"

There's a particular kind of country song that doesn't try to reinvent anything — it just wants to remind you what a good summer feels like. Spencer Hatcher's "Hot Weather, Cold Beer" is exactly that kind of song, and its new music video, premiering on The Heartland Network, delivers on every ounce of that promise.
Hatcher, the Shenandoah Valley-raised artist signed to QHMG / Stone Country Records, has never hidden his roots. He was picking a five-string banjo in his family's bluegrass band by age 11, and that bluegrass DNA still runs underneath everything he does — even a song built for beach coolers and backyard speakers. Co-written with brother and bassist Connor Hatcher alongside Bill Whyte and Steve Dean, and produced by Jason Sellers and Ilya Toshinskiy, the track has a loose-limbed, live-band feel that suits Hatcher's reputation as a self-booked road warrior who's logged more than 150 shows a year for two years running.
The video itself, directed by Jules Wortman and shot by Noah Johnson Media under producer Angela Wheeler, leans into that same unpretentious energy. Hatcher has said the shoot's biggest challenge became part of its charm: temperatures pushing into the 90s while he worked through takes in a full denim outfit. That kind of real discomfort behind the camera has a way of showing up as real joy in front of it, and it does here — the smiles on screen aren't performance notes, they're friends actually having a good time. Hatcher cast real-life buddies in the video, and it shows in the easy, unforced chemistry throughout.
What makes the video work as a companion piece to the song is restraint — it doesn't oversell the "summer anthem" idea, it just documents one. Sun, water, friends, cold drinks: the video "perfectly encapsulates the song and the lyrics," as Hatcher puts it, and that alignment between what you hear and what you see is rarer than it should be in the genre right now.
This is Hatcher's first true summertime record, arriving on the heels of a debut EP, Honky Tonk Hideaway, that already turned heads — its lead single "When She Calls Me Cowboy" landed as a Top 10 Most Added song at country radio and topped Taste of Country's fan-voted video countdown. Add in a Mountain Dew Major Melon campaign built around his bluegrass jingle and a TikTok audience north of 72 million organic views, and it's clear Hatcher's momentum isn't a fluke — it's a young artist finding his lane and staying in it.
"Hot Weather, Cold Beer" isn't asking to be the deepest song of the summer. It's asking to be the truest one — and on that count, Hatcher delivers.
The “Hot Weather, Cold Beer” video makes its world premiere on Country Music Today Friday, August 7, at 6pm ET/5pm CT. Check out the teaser below and tune in on The Heartland Network or Heartland+.
